Australian I am

I love a sunburned country deep and wide,
Surrounded by jade blue coastlines, sand so fine.
Our people are varied and not so many,
Cultures diverse, at times a little terse.

We call each other mate, yet often forget our dates,
Except unless they are Fridays and Mondays,
Then, "You beauty!" Off for the weekend we will go,
We love our well earned rest, you see, to man we are no debtor.

Footy in all it's styles we watch, on big screens if you please,
Our favourite drop is a tinny top, a beer you lot!
Our sportsmen and women are our heroes, after all we are true blue,
Unless of course they shaft us, then it is, "Ya bloody mug!"

Our newest members struggle with our culture,
we wear our thongs, rubber mate, on our feet to beat the heat,
We eat our pies, sausage rolls, hamburgers and chips,
and then watch our cooking shows, replete.

We have our say about our leaders and are quick to tell them when they are wrong,
From our intelligent couches, where we are inclined to meet.
We want our pensions, benefits and handouts which we are due, but if we go into the red
Why "those bloody politicians are useless mate, I could do a better job, just name the date."
