Home of the Free

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are blessed, with a choice.
Our land abounds in nature's gifts,
So let us remember and our arms we lift.
Grateful for freedom,
Grateful for abundance,
Grateful for tolerance,
Grateful for climate.
Grateful for life.

Then I will be generous in praise,
Of mates, family and the bloke next door,
I will help those in need, in fact the poor.
I will not keep all for me,
Greed is nasty you see.
But being generous, why it sets me free.

My life is about others,
My friends and my brothers,
This is how we began,
These words we must hang,
You are welcome here,
In my heart is a tear,
You are my kin, humankind,
No colour or race.

I can put another snag on the barbie,
I can water down the juice,
I can go without another tele,
I can stop and help you move.
I can think about you, and not about me,
Hey! I actually can, you see.
For I am Aussie, from the land and home of the free.
